Mothballs are toxic to everything including pets. I wouldn't use them.

Although we have tried to rid our field of grubs every year when we return from spending the winter in FL a large area has been torn up because of skunks. One year the dog got sprayed and a neighbor's dog also got hit. We used a havaheart trap, placing vanilla snack pudding inside and cheetos outside. Caught 14 skunks like that.

14 skunks!!! Dear Lord!

I have heard you can soak tennis balls in ammonia and toss them into the den.

I heard someone under my house last night...I think I might try the bright light, bass thumping and tennis balls.

My experience with wildlife removal 'experts' was that they are generally pot-growing slackers who take your money and give only excuses.

How do you avoid getting sprayed when you pick up the traps to relocate the skunks?

Slowly walk up, and drop a blanket over the trap. As long as they can't see you, they won't feel threatened. When releasing make sure you are behind the blanket, and slowly open the trap door. Then run like all get out!

In MN we use lutefisk. But one year we ended up with a whole family of Norwegians under our porch.

Wow--that must have been smellier than skunks. I understand that lutefisk smells, too.

And I read this and pictured a bass fish at first.

I was thinking, what kind of fish sound could scare away a skunk?

Then I remembered...
