Was at HD today to pick up some Milo.

However right next to it again was Purely Organic Lawn Food.

Figured it out and given the price it was hard to pass up Purely Organic Lawn Food.

They had about half a pallet left of Milo so definitely a lot of demand this early in the season.

Out of stock everywhere in Orlando. Been monitoring home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart. Next year, I will hoard peat moss and Milo earlier...

Maybe since it’s derived from sewage sludge it’s being tested to be sure no pathogens? That might slow things down.

Here’s Why the Demand for Milorganite is Outpacing Production.

“Customer demand for Milorganite has outpaced production again this season and it’s understandable that customers are frustrated if they can’t find their favorite fertilizer. Unfortunately, the supply-and-demand model doesn’t apply to Milorganite.

It can be confusing that the supply-and-demand model doesn’t apply to Milorganite. It’s the model we’re all used to: demand increases, so production increases. But that’s not the case with Milorganite.

Decades ago, there were more industries in the area that produced large volumes of wastewater, including several breweries and a yeast manufacturer. Many of them left the area taking their valuable “raw material” with them. Fewer water-based industries and less wastewater equal less Milorganite.

There’s only a finite amount of raw material available that’s processed into Milorganite. Although more than 50,000 tons of Milorganite will be produced this season—about three million bags—and it still continues to fall short of customer demand.”

Bought a house in April in NJ and have done nothing to my lawn except water and mow it. The front lawn in particular could use something to green it up a bit. I was going to wait until September to overseed and add fertilizer because I read somewhere that's the optimal time, but was thinking of adding some Milorganite this weekend. Anything I should do differently before I add this stuff? Should I mow the lawn shorter than usual? Should I bag the clippings (I normally don't)? Do I need to water right after?
