Definitely cut it high for the summer time...your lawn will thank you.

Going to be in the 90s all weekend so I am sure my grad is appreciating the 4” cutting height.
My mower has a highest cutting height of 3.75". At that height, I feel like I have to go over it again because there are blades of grass sticking up. I have my blade sharpened a couple times a year so that isn't the problem. Does your mower give you a clean cut at 4"?
Yes, cuts clean at 4”. This will vary from one maker to another.

I just dropped the deck down 1 notch.
The ticks are really bad this year due to the mild winter we had. I've found that mowing it lower keeps the tick problem a little more manageable.
I wont use pesticides, or fertilizers either.
I keep my property all natural. Tons of wildlife and we have well water so no chemicals at my place. Lawn looks great with nothing but watering.
Change the height each week depending on the heat, rainfall and forecast.
How bout keeping the blade high and then adjusting how frequently it gets mowed based on growth etc?

Yes. Clipping the latest growth at the top and mulching all year long.

Sounds like you have low/high spots, and/or weeds and likely different types of grass.
