I have a couple pecan trees in my yard. While I was mowing the grass and picking weeds. I went to pull up what I thought was a weed and it turned out to be a pecan tree growing beside my car port.
I transplanted and watered it in another location but will it survive? The pecan got disconnected from the root system.
doubtful, before the seedling sprouts upward, it will establish a lengthy root for its size (about 4 to 5 inches) and if it gets cut on top, the top portion will likely die... however the established root may put out another shoot.
