Put several 8 ft tall poles around your corn field. Use fence as base. Take some wire and run it from poles to fence to prevent sag. Pull bird netting over it. Done. e-bay has very inexpensive bird netting. I know. I have 5 000 sf one.

For me the problem last year started with the crows pulling up the young plants to eat the sprouted seeds. When I finally got corn, the squirrels ate them before we could. I found a variety called "On Deck" mail order (Burpee, I think) and they are currently about a foot high - in my greenhouse. They only get 5' tall, and can be planted much closer together, bred for planting 9 to a whiskey barrel on the deck or patio.

Works splendidly for me.

I have a colony of squirrels and the odd chipmunk. They stay well away from my figs and citrus once the owls are positioned. Birds stay away too.

If you believe they are real...so will they.

Yep, and don't waste money on one of those big inflatable snakes either.

A neighbor has a plastic owl on the fence; the birds use it as a perch.

Perhaps entice a family of ferrets or some other weasels to live in your garden. I understand that most rodents don't like to live anywhere close to weasels.

When my in-laws lived in Tucson they had a huge cage like thing to cover their grapefruit tree. As I recall it had some kind of netting and aluminum poles. It kept the birds away.

It certainly seems that way!

We tried the fake owls around our blueberry bushes. Pffft. Not at all effective.

I have a large orchard in New Mexico - 4000 trees. I've just started this year, and my understanding is that Chili Powder works. The "Northeastern Squirrel" will quickly return back to New York and Massachusetts, burning at both ends.

The Mexican Squirrel, who loves chili is more problematic. Maybe Trump's Wall will work-after all - they are only here to steal, run naked, and mate with decent American Squirrels.

LOL I'm serious about the Chili Powder- as for Trump ugh!
