Wish I had a time lapse camera on them. Absolutely gorgeous!
Bought for $10 each in 2009.
They were like 5 feet tall. Now 7 years later they are full and over 20 feet tall. Averaging about 2 feet a year.
I never fed or added anything to the soil! We've had historic Tundra cold. We've had Tropical rains and heat. We've had sun, snow, Hurricane Sandy winds... I'm Impressed.
I didn't have same angle in 2009 but here's one photo from then. Wow!
Thanks. You have to see when there's a Summer downpour or right after. Everything out there is lush, dripping, and just so full of green.

I'm impressed at how much they are growing being an Oak. In the distant future someone is going to look at the tree rings and say wow.. look how wide they are! lol. We rarely have long droughts here too.

Just took these photos. Cloudy day so doesn't show as good but man, every year they get more beautiful. So full and green and getting huge! And this year I got a surprise.....
Surprise! Watching wild life enjoy them.
Sturdy and powerful trunk even while in a drought these things are growing. Incredible.
The squirrels and blue jays love my pin oak! The blue jays just gulp down the acorns like popcorn. The squirrels bury the acorns all over my yard and I am constantly getting "volunteers" in my flower bed.

I transplant those volunteers. Got 2 small oaks growing from it. Last year I put one in a pot and it was gone a month later. Guess something decided to eat the whole stem. lol
Yeah, Blue Jays too. Even small sparrows I see singing in there. I tell you.. Before I planted those 2 there was nothing, it took about 3 years to finally see the wildlife enjoy it.
Now 7 yrs later its providing shade and more wildlife enjoying it. I saw some string in there the other day. Wonder whats trying to make a nest.

Forgot about nesting. Squirrels build big nests in my very mature pin oak!
I planted 2 Same Pin Oaks in 2009. They each produce different colors. One more Yellow/Orange the other more Red. Would of liked 2 red ones but I think sunlight is having something to do with it? Or you can just say One is male, One is female.
