DH and the girls are bringing all the porch plants Into the garage. We haul them out on sunny days in the winter or open the garage doors for optimum sunshine.I overwinter airplane plants, asparagus ferns, lots of begonias, especially the expensive Angel Wings, my mother coleus plant, lots of sedums, dormant caladiums left right in the pot all winter, mums.

Then we will drape protection over the rest of the porch and deck plants, including my big bin of herbs. We will have sunny days and cool nights from here on out but not freezing for awhile.

What porch or deck plants do you save over the winter?

Geraniums, Myer Lemon, Hybiscus, and my India Banyan bonsai all come into the house and have been in now two weeks, though we have not gotten below 46 at night since then. Very unusual, in fact a record with 10 days over 60.

What is even crazier is up here in the high plains our weather is warmer than normal.

Check out my weather banner:

Our highs should be close to 30. September was colder than what we are now having in November.

We had our first killing frost this morning in the Ozarks of north Arkansas.

My aunt called this afternoon from Minnesota and said her flowers are still in bloom .

Walked around the yard a bit. Noticed many wildflowers still blooming. Especially dandelions. One thing real weird one of the sugar maples has leaf buds opening.

We had our first snow back on Oct 2 and the first freeze was sometime in September. Now November is like mid-Spring.

We hit our low for this fall/winter this morning, 34F at 5am when I left. Still have not had any frost, it's about 3 weeks late and with rain returning tonight, probably still not coming soon.

We have had it pretty good in Wisconsin so far. Normally we have snow by now or at least cold temps (which I hate with a passion) Today it was 68 degrees. However, the bubble will burst tonight and our high for tomorrow? 40. Yuckkkkkkkkkk
I brought in my Geraniums off of the deck a few weeks ago. I also had some growing in the ground in my back flower bed that faces south and they are SO Beautiful---I just couldn't bare to let them die in the winter so I dug those up and put them in pots and they are doing great in the house on the south facing window seat My spouse said "What is this? A forest?" LOL
I also bring in my pots of Basil, Rosemary, Oregano and Parsley and keep them in the kitchen by the glass sliding door so they still get sun. I actually started a lemon plant this last spring from a seed of an organic lemon. I am so proud of myself! LOLOL
Have a good weekend all
