Can you help me identify this plant? I recently moved to this home and I'm unsure what previous owner planted vs what's a weed in my flowerbeds. Was told this plant is a weed but I actually like it so I'm leaving it. Would just love to know what it is exactly. Thx!

The leaves, pistil and stamens are like those of several plants in the dayflower family (Commelina). So, I'd say it's some kind of dayflower. Are there other flowers blooming yet and do all the flowers have only 2 white petals on them? Some dayflowers have blue flowers, others have yellow, or white. Some of them have 3 petals instead of 2.

Just the one flower has bloomed and it's only 2 petals. it's actually a very, very pale purple. It appears to bloom first thing in the am and wilts by noon. Here are two more close ups of the pod the flower emerges from.

They spread like weeds, but when they are blooming, who would have the heart to get rid of them? I just pull any up that are in spots where they overrun other flowers that I like.
