DH is patient about me hauling rocks around from wherever we travel. I imagine that hundreds of years from now an excavation of our backyard would present a pretty puzzle to an archeologist!

For a long time I also had an old rusty milk can she brought me from farm country. Once it got that textured patina it really looked nice with contrasting flowers planted in the top. I have a couple of old family Red Wing crocks I plant in every year.

And I have my eye on an antique wooden chair in the basement but I think it will take some smooth talking to persuade DH it belongs outside. It belonged to his family and he sits there to take off his muddy boots before he comes upstairs.

Down in north Iowa farm country a lot of people use cream separators as planters.

Lodestar your yard is gorgeous. Love the drift wood pieces in front. I have had the same thought about excavating the yard with all the rocks I have hauled in here from all over CA and Idaho, Montana ,Wyoming.

I finally took a sink photo. I have one more high backed sink tucked in the trees I need to plant. Another project. Maybe next year. I have so many other things I need to finish.

Does a towel count for repurposing? lol

Birds keep eating the worms and stuff from underneath the pile so I have it blocked now.

My husband uses similar red plastic cups to start plants indoors, both for our outdoor garden and the indoor garden he lovingly tends year-round. He is vigilant about me returning them to him after I plant something, so that he can clean the cups and use them again.

I am not as talented as you folks, but my husband jokes that I will drill a hole in any plastic container and use it for a planter. I have repurposed buckets and totes this way.

And bottle trees too.

Oh that's interesting. When it rains does it make different pinging sounds? Might be annoying after a while but sure looks cool.

Thanks! Yeah, they are heavy, kinda nice since they don't move when you walk on them but a hassel to keep storing and placing down each year. I don't mind the workout.

Yup, and raining again now. And temps struggling past 50s Tuesday and Wednesday June 7th. Cool, wet & cloudy has been the theme past 5 weeks. Had a nice 3 day stretch of some sun which felt amazing. Now back to gloom and doom like the media. lol

Yeah, I wash and reuse them too.. I don't blame him for wanting them back. lol. I start my seeds in trays then they go into these cups until they're ready for the ground.

These are so cute. I want to do some. did you use the regular craft paints and is there a sealer on them? thank you!

I did some mosaics on rocks. they were picked up from a beach trip I made with two other new widows. We had so much fun. I made each of us one to remember. Three flowers on the beach learning to bloom again.

Cambuim, I have not stood outside in the rain to listen if they plink. There is a possibility of hail this evening so I will let you know. i have a metal roof I am used to the sound of rain. I like it.
