It sure looks like crabgrass, but I don't know that crabgrass grows slowly or is soft. Crabgrass is an annual and should die off as winter approaches.

Isn't that plain old St. Augustine grass?

You'll never see the doveweed flowers, I never have. That stuff has nearly ruined my lawn. Are you in the South?

Looks like St. Augustine. Except St Augustine is a brighter green, but it may be the picture that isn't bright enough. St. Augustine is an emerald green. IT HAS RUNNERS. It is not seeded. BUT in wet areas, not too cold, it grows fast, not slowly. It grows more slowly further north or in cold areas or dense clay soil. It grows well in shade, but will do well in sunny spots if not too hot and sunny (like Dallas, TX...that hot sun all day kills it).

Do you have a wider area pic of it? Grass covers a yard, weeds are spots.

There is another grass that looks like St. Augustine, but not as bright a green, (poor man's St Augustine, it's called), but I forget the name.
