3rd year vegetable gardener, I need some advice on getting rid of cucumber beetles that, for the 2nd yr in a row, have devasted my zucchini plants. Do these beetles winter over in the soil? How do I get rid of them? My friends zucchini/squash/pumpkins are booming while mine fruit, then turn yellow and drop off, leaves turn brown and wither. I use drop irrigation and also have a piiwdeey mildew issue, but that's for another day! I'm in the buffalo ny area, thanks for any help!!

Does your area get the squash bug. What you are describing can be that too, the nymphs do that kind of damage as well.

It could also be the pickle worm doing damage to the fruit. I have definitely found them in both squash and cukes.
