Sweet Grass. It was the fragrance that predominated the ORIGINAL formula for"Herbal Essence" shampoo that came out in the mid 1970s. I remember that smell so vividly. There is also products that are produced by a company called "Sister Sky" that have this as their main fragrance.

Top of my list is ice....such as the scent of alpine icefields. Though it is hard to tease apart the scent from the feeling of that sharp chill. Next would be the conifers; balsam, fir, spruce. Next is cedar, that aromatic red cedar. I have a cedar chest I hired an Amish cabinetmaker in NY to build for me. Sometimes I just want to curl up and sleep in the thing.

Pine forests are common enough to enjoy occasionally. I’m still trying to identify the nighttime scent of nutmeg that I get occasionally...very pleasant. There’s a profusion of flower scents right now.

I love Lily-of-the-Valley. I used to have a little patch in a yard at a house where I used to live.

I picked a bouquet of lilacs from my garden yesterday, and their scent has filled the house. I love it.

Petrichor is another favorite of mine.

Anyone know the sharp, wonderful scent of the soil usually around rhododendrons?

Mostly in a mountain setting, it's earthy but also a sweet soil smell...usually the soil is damp when this scent can be smelled...
