Does anyone know if cut ***** willows can be preserved? If so how?

I believe you can get sprouts from them if kept in water.

Puddy-cat willow?

Willow will keep in water for weeks, just change it every so often, when it gets cloudy. It might be better to use rainwater, rather than tap.

It will eventually start to root.

The buds will stay for a while - is that what you are trying to preserve?

BTW willow water is supposed to be useful for rooting other plants, so don't throw it away!

If you're trying to preserve them by drying them, hang them in bunches upside down until they dry. The flowers should stay on the branches for years if they're dried properly.

if you are trying to keep the ***** willow, don't put it in water. that makes it sprout and continue changing the ***** part. Just cut them and let them dry

yes, you can keep cut pussywillows for a long time. we have cut branches and put in a bucket of rain water and planted them (incase you want to have your own bush) now I own lake front property and its loaded with them upto 10 ft tall!
