I think I heard or read someplace, that it was against the law to kill, or otherwise torment moles in Germany and England....I've tried everything ,too...even smoke bombs.. nothing works...
My next experiment might be a shotgun!!!!!

I have used moth balls. Stick them down into the holes you find. They run off - it doesn't kill them so it is not cruel, for anyone who is opposed to maiming or snuffing out the little boogers.

Hi all
We get hundred of calls each year at the extension office on getting rid of moles
I am going to attach a link just scroll down to moles.

It has some helpful information and also tell about home remedies such as juicy fruit gum & with mothballs which can cause bad affects if you dog or cat or kids gets hold of them.

the most imports part is that there are no scientific proven ways to get rid of them. The "harpoon" has been suggested but you would need to hope that they will return to the tunnel and trigger the trap.

Here is a part about having them trapped

"When mole tunnels become an intolerable nuisance, moles may be captured and removed without a permit by homeowners, renters, or employees of the property owner. If a lawn service or pest control technician is hired to trap nuisance animals, that person must have a Nuisance Wildlife Permit issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation"

as far as using poison
"No poison (bait or fumigant) may be used on native wildlife without a Poison Permit issued by the executive director of the FWC. Because suitable traps are available for mole control, it is extremely difficult to justify the use of poisons."

karla, what you're stating applies to Florida. Many other states don't care what you use to kill the vectors. Here in AZ, mole poison is sold at garden centers.

Hubby swears by caster beans. He says to drop the pods into the mole's tunnels, or to spray the yard with a solution of caster bean/oil solution, available at most garden supply houses.

They can wreck a yard in no time, but keep in mind that moles feed on grubs, and the little devils may actually be doing your lawn a bigger favor by being there for now.

We did have some luck with the things that send vibrations, or sound waves of some sort, too. I think you could also put little speakers in the tunnels and play hip-hop to get rid of them.

And just in case you need a smile while those moles wreck your yard, this is a little *poem* my child's grandmother recited (from her own childhood). . .

Three little moles ran down three little holes,
And all you could see was molasses.

They hate the smell of Pine Sol! It won't kill them but they will move on to get away from it.
