I also suffer greatly from SAD, which puts me in a terrible place each winter. With that I truly feel the 'spring' coming back into my step. I don't think I'm gonna ever wash this dirt from my nails. Happy gardening everyone!
I am bipolar and have SAD ( Seasonal Affective Disorder for thise who DON'T know), and do much much better in warmer sunny weather.

Here in N.Y. it didn't really come until May. Now it's been nice warm weather and I can be outside in the sun.

I have a bonus room with a,southern pair of 3'x4' windows, and a western pair. During the winter all my plants have fluorescent plant lights, and all the rest of the lamp bulbs in the house are full spectrum daylight LED bulbs.

Try them if you haven't, it helps and is cheaper than the sold-for-SAD-and-depression lamps. But you need "full spectrum daylight bulbs ".

Have SAD as well....are full spectrum daylight bulbs still halogen or incandescent or what? I can't seem to read with halogen....the light box works too for me.

Now that we have sun and 70s here, I sit out for at least 15 min each day....

They come in LED as well, but BE SURE they say "FULL DAYLIGHT SPECTRUM" on the LEDs.

I have the bonus of the fluorescent plant lights when in the bonus room, but all the bulbs in my house are FULL DAYLIGHT SPECTRUM LEDs except two, and they are green "night lights", but they too are LEDs. We picked green as green is considered soothing to the eyes, for when it's dark and you want it dark, but enoughlight to see.

I used to have compact flourescent daylight bulbs , they have been changed to LED s.

As cheap as LED s are to operate, having several on is no problem.

They want like $150 for one small SAD lamp.

Try it and see if you like it.
