This plant has been introduced to almost the whole world now so most likely somebody else in or near your location has it growing on their property and the seeds have come from there. The seeds are primarily spread by water but can also be spread by birds, animals and wind and, inadvertently, in imported garden soils, landfill soils and commercial potting soils used by nurseries that are growing nursery plants for sale. It is invasive, as you've determined already, so if you're sure your volunteer is tree tobacco and are concerned about it then you should pull it up before it gets a chance to produce flowers and seeds.
