For comparison: half-life of glyphosate is 6+ days and LD 50 in rats is almost 6000 mg/kg

-half -life of atrazine, another commonly used ag herbicide, is 13+ days and LD 50 only 600mg/kg

ps/ 40,000 Americans die in traffic accidents each year. How many die from glyphosate poisoning? Keep things in perspective.

Not to be disrespectful to them but they also cleared the air around the World Trade Center after testing. Tell that to the family members of those who are not gone after helping out at the Pile.

The current head of the EPA was once a lead attorney for Monsanto. I don't believe the report at all.

I don't believe much of anything coming out of Trump's EPA. All they are doing is rolling back environmental regulations and opening the door for further pollution and de-regulation.

https://theweek.com/articles/816875/...redefining-epa

a small quote from "What has this new EPA done?
So far, it has abolished a total of 47 environmental regulations — and is in the process of rolling back 31 more, according to a New York Times analysis. A separate analysis, by Harvard Law School, found that such rollbacks could lead to at least 80,000 additional deaths per decade and cause respiratory problems for more than a million people. To reverse the ongoing decline of the coal industry, Pruitt killed a 2015 rule banning coal-fired electricity plants from dumping 1.4 billion pounds a year of toxic wastewater into rivers and streams, contaminating them with mercury, selenium, and arsenic. These pollutants have been linked to cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurological disorders. Under Trump, oil and gas companies no longer have to inform the EPA about their methane emissions, or leaks —....."

But... "It did identify potential risks to mammals and birds, but said these would be limited to at or near the application area of the pesticide."

I refuse to spray any chemical in my garden for that reason. "Limited to at or near the application of the pesticide" doesn't mean it doesn't hurt mammals and birds.

Not on my watch.

Monsanto no longer owns the patent on glysophate so several companies are now selling it under different names. As long as I don't bath in the stuff, I find the benefits of its use far outweigh the potential adverse impacts.

Unfortunately I have little control over what is sprayed in my yard (although I am trying my best to communicate with the landscapers employed by our HOA). I have been raising monarch butterflies for the past few years, and last year every caterpillar that I fed milkweed from my yard got sick and died. Asked the landscapers about it and sure enough they were using Roundup in the beds.

Like coffee and other such offensive items, it will only cause cancer in California. Using it in Texas will be safe.

I have no use for a week killer that kills everything. I mix up various weed killers and spray them and it minimizes the weeds in my yard. I run into problems with certain weeds that are resistant to most weed killers. Chickweed and Creeping Charlie have been difficult for me to eliminate.
