planting some squash for first time and started to notice the leaves turning yellow. I water them about 2-3 times per week about one inch of water each time. what is wrong with plant? appreciate any help! thanks! peter
Too much water is a good guess. Why is in the pot as far as planting material? Where are you located? Has the soil dried between waterings? Are you soaking them? Has it been hot? Where are the plants in terms of sun during the day?
I live in Gilroy, ca. right next to san jose, ca. the soil in my area is clay and I have a lot of gophers. I used organic gardening soil from home depot and they are placed in my greenhouse. it does get direct sunlight during the afternoon. I try to make sure the soil is dry before I water. I have not been soaking the pots. it has not been too hot, 70-80.
Overwatering, washing all nutrients out. Get a moisture meter at a garden center ($7.00) which will tell you when to water. Clay soils hold water longer, bind up nutrients.
