First of all

I would like to know if I would be able to successfully transplant a sago palm from one area to a garden bed to another area(the poor sago palm is getting too large for the cramped area it is currently growing in)

What time of year would be best for successfully moving a sago palm to a different area in a garden bed?

After I transplant this sago palm, how often/how much water will it need in the absence of any natural rain?

What symptoms of complications are possible as a result of being transplanted?

All advice and insightful opinions are welcome on this thread.

Late spring would be the best time to move it, doing it now could cause the roots to rot since they’re not regenerating during the winter.

Damn. It’s been almost a week and all I’ve gotten is a single answer?!?!c’mon everyone, I need more advice, aside from the internet, I need more advice because my mom is expecting me to move a sago palm from one area of front yard garden bed to another, so please please try to give additional advice as it is urgently neededI will need to relocate the sago palm before I return to Indianapolis on January 11th, and I have been getting mixed opinions over the general internet websites as to whether one would be successful at moving a sago palm during the dormant season. I would greatly appreciate any additional advice on whether I should move the sago palm before I go back to Indianapolis or whether I should move the sago palm in May or June, any additional advice is greatly appreciated.

I would ask your question here.
Forums - PalmTalk

Just to be clear, what you have is technically a cycad, not a palm.

Very true and 99 percent of people don't realize a sago palm is closer related to a pine tree than a palm tree.

Default Re: Transplanting sago palms in Dallas Texas area

I must say that since I created this thread that I have since transplanted the sago palm, I want to say that I moved it from one part of a flower bed to another several days ago. So I guess my biggest questions are how much and how often should I be watering it until it is able to re establish it’s root system under ground. I have been watering it daily since I moved it and have noticed few complications so far. I would also like to know how long will the sago palm take until its fully reestablished? Thanks all who bother to read and comment on this thread.
