I thought the lid would seal it enough. Guess not. Woke up this morning and the lid was chewed and part of the bucket. So I put a heavy bucket on top and when I came home I found this.
Determined to get to those bird seeds.

Reason: typo
I had a small plastic barrel full of ears of squirrel corn. Had the lid on it and a couple bricks on top of that. Squirrel chewed a perfectly round hole in the side and opened an "all you can eat" buffet for the other squirrels in the neighborhood. Went to the garage one morning and 4 squirrels made a quick getaway. I also had problems with the squirrels and a couple raccoons eating my tomatoes off the vines. I stood watching out the window while one squirrel ate away at one tomato.
Our one cat escaped and we have been trying to trap her. We put out one of those wire animal traps, and yesterday, when I went to check it, a raccoon had evidently gone in to eat the food. The metal door was bent like a pretzel, and the plastic dish I had put inside with food was half eaten and the rest had huge teeth marks in it. Lots of the plastic was gone.
So, I guess more than squirrels chew up plastic things.
yup. just get the metal garbage cans. It's the only thing that'll keep the seed safe.
been there, done that.
