My cucumber plant is producing large, beautiful, but yellow, cucumbers. The youngest ones are as yellow as the mature ones. What are these? Are they okay to eat?
Thanks in advance.

What is the variety? There are Lemon Cucumbers and Chinese Yellow cucumbers that are naturally yellow. The typical English or Burpless long green cucumbers turn yellow when over-ripe and are no longer good to eat. When they turn yellow before being ripe, there is a problem such as a virus. Even more likely, the plant or seeds were mis-marked, and you actually have a yellow Zucchini plant. How big are the blossoms? Cucumber blossoms are about 1-2" diameter, Zucchini 3-4".
They taste like any other cucumber, perhaps a touch milder. Didn’t even know I had this variety when I got the starter plant. I’ll try to post a picture tomorrow.
