Just for the record: when Cambium is on alert, personally, I pay close attention.

Did you see the forecast for me? I can't believe it. I had to wheel in some more firewood.

Normal is Upper 60s now. We'll be staying in the 40s on Saturday and dropping near freezing Sunday morning. Worried about all the farms and Peach crops. Plus chances of snow around.

In May.....

Fava Beans finally had a little growth spurt from the warming... Now I'm going to have to cover them.

Box of Greens too

Yesterday was Day #5 for hardening off. Up to 2-3hrs outside only. No full sunlight on them yet.

I was installing my shed roof on a beautiful sunny spring day and the clouds rolled in with wind. Looked at the radar and saw scattered showers around. So frustrating this area is.

I had to cover with plastic again and couldn't finish.

Stay tuned for the result of the Record Cold.

We here in De. are about the same as you. We have had about 5 - 6 inches of rain in the last 8 days with more today and more the rest of the week and the temps are similar to yours. This is getting old.

Definitely getting old. Once or twice is fine and typical but its been constant with only once or twice warming. I see the light at the end of this cold tunnel. Mid May things should turn around. BTW Hartford might break the record for coldest daytime temp. (115yrs of records)

Day #6 today. Clouds are perfect for this process but its 50s outside. Not that great. lol. Up to 4 hrs outside today. No direct sun still. I start that tomorrow little at a time.

Even without direct sunlight you get sun scold. That's why you have to be patient during this process. Just a couple, not worried.

Bell Peppers in cups just itching to get in the ground

Hot peppers too

I turned the compost pile over today.

Thanks!! I appreciate it.

1st taste of direct sunlight today. 30 minutes and that's it! Then 4hrs in the shade then back inside.

it's a long process but I learned over the years to take your time, be patient. Even just 1 minute too much means leaves will get burned or plants dry out too quick or they wilt from wind stress.

Take your time. Plus no rush since it's 50s outside and we cant transplant for another 10 days!

Cambium

Have you read any of Ruth Stout's gardening books? She lived in CT and struggled with the weather too.
2 of her books are at archive.org can search by her name. She wrote in late 60s and 70s.
She was an early permaculturist before that name was invented. She called herself a "lazy gardener" and discovered ways to grow a veggie garden without tilling.
