In my backyard there is a little tree or bush (not exactly sure what it is), it has always looked nice, like a big bonzai tree. Anywho, it is dead now, but there is a vine like plant that is growing on it and so from afar the tree doesn't actually look dead because you can see the green from the vine leaves.
Would you cut down this dead tree or leave it be with the vine?
As others said, get rid of them both. I'd pull them both right out of the ground if possible, roots and all. And inspect the property to make sure there are no others of that vine plant growing elsewhere on the property. If you come across more vine plants pull them all out of the ground too.
Why not keep both since you like them? Aesthetics should be your only criterion since neither the bush nor the vine do any harm?
That might be true if the identity of the vine was known, but nobody knows what the vine is, apparently the OP doesn't know either. Until the OP can provide information about the identity of the vine or else post some photographs of it for identification it's not possible to declare that the vine is either harmless or harmful. It's possible the vine might have been what killed the little tree, and if it can kill a tree it can kill other plants on the property too. So the vine needs to be identified.

In an area a little more wild than a suburban backyard, a snag (standing, dead tree) is an important part of the ecosystem- unique home to various bugs, fungi, birds, etc, and has a different role to play than a fallen dead tree. In a suburban backyard, an artificial imitation of Nature, it may or may not make any difference....As Zoisite says, the vine involved may or may not be problematic.
Let aesthetics be your guide. A vine like Virginia Creeper turns a very impressive red in the fall, for instance. Just pay attention to the invasiveness of the vine-- keep it under control, limited to the snag.
If the little dead tree looks nice even when dead, then check to see what sort of vine is growing on it to see if it's a vine you'd want to encourage. If it's an okay vine, then leave it there if it's not a vine you like, remove it and put a vine you like in there.
Or grow beans on the dead tree. That will cover the tree in the summer and leave the branches as artwork during the winter.
