I keep hearing about this on the news. They say do NOT open the packet but call your local agriculture official. Haven't heard what these mysterious seeds are yet. Anyone know?

Haven't received a packet, and haven't heard what they are. The news mentioned it a few nights ago. I originally thought it was some social media bs, but apparently not.

This is the first I've heard about it but when I checked into it I discovered that mystery seed packs have been getting mailed to residents in Canada and the UK as well. Here is some news about the mystery seed packs, plus pictures. Some of them look like orange or lemon seeds, others look like lentils or ??? .......

As far as we currently know seeds cannot be weaponized with bacteria or viruses: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/pla...ansmission.htm. But we don't know everything as we have found out with this latest pandemic.

We also don't know if these seeds could be invasive plants that could terraform our landscape?

Yes, some look like lentils, some like squash and some like black oily sunflower seeds. Of course it can just be a promotion like some have speculated? But considering that we are losing so much of our native forest to invasive plants it is wise to find what these are and where they are coming from.

Now, while everybody is told to contact their officials and turn in the seeds, anybody want to place any bets on what percentage of us have opened and planted the seeds? I am sure somebody was curious.

It is supposedly a “brushing scam” but I don’t understand where they are getting names and addresses, and the supposed scam makes no sense to me.

I have not received a packet. But others in Washington have.

I do not know anyone who has received a packet, but our local news ran a story on it warning us to not open and mail them back to Dept of Ag.

The Canadian Government issued a national warning about this subject on July 20th.

The direction was..Do not plant them and retain the seeds and any packaging and mailing labels so that a Food Agency Canada inspector can inspect them, in person.

Don't plant them. Giant pods will grow out of the ground and Chinese versions of the recipient will start to awaken and leave the pods.

That's what I would do. Fire pit sacrifice.

The ones I've seen look like Lemon Seeds.
