Is this a Mushroom or what? (mushrooms, yard, Tennessee, pictures)

Found this in my yard here in Tennessee and wonder what kind is it? Has a chocolate like stuff coming out of it at the bottom.

Those are spores, (the brown powder) we call them Puffball mushrooms.

We get those. Usually clusters of them in spots. We call them puff balls too. They dry seemingly overnight and if you squash them a brown cloud of spores spews forth.
