My roses are leafing out. Today I bought a variegated liriope, 3 red geraniums, 2 white carnations and something else, I forget. I’m chipping away at my back yard beds. I’ve never planted geraniums in the ground, but they do well in pots, so I’m trying it.

I just planted geraniums and carnations today. I know they’re considered annuals, but here in GA they tend to make it through the winter. Nice getting my hands in the dirt again.

My satsuma orange was not covered or babied during the cold snaps, and it’s leafing out nicely. It got off to a slow start, with only one orange last year, but I’m hoping it’s finally acclimated now.

Temperatures have been actually crazy. Here in the Virginia area just outside of Washington, DC now one of the warmest winters on record.

No snow, no sleet, and no freezing rain. Thank goodness.

Already got my pre-emergent down on the grass, the rose bushes are starting to bud through, got the backyard of my home mulched with several yards of mulch last weekend.

And going to be near 80 record degrees on Thursday.

Holding off on pruning the butterfly bushes until the consistent temps set in, but at this rate it'll be far ahead of regular schedule.

Same thing here. This is our sixth winter here and this has been the warmest February yet. And even though I am ready to get planting things, my head tells me to wait at least another five or six weeks because there is most likely going to be at least one more freeze.

Yes, this global warming sure is having an effect on things. Even in my area where we reached and record over 80° yesterday. Things are coming back to normal this week of temps in the 50s or low 60s which two is above normal.

Definitely looking forward to the coming weeks and taking a trip to the nursery of finding some good things to add to the garden.

I went to the best nursery 2 cities away (20 minutes lol) and bought 2 new perennials to add to my garden.
I'll take photos and post them after this rainy day is over because I'm so happy to have found them at $5 and $10 each.
Candytuft is one of them and a deep pink dianthus is the other.
