A few years ago we had a tree service come out to work with our Ash tree. At that time it was covered with galls and was practically nude in the summer. They put a fertilizer and ?? of some kind in and the tree really looks good now. The Emerald Ash Borer is next...
But about the Crab Apples. The gentleman that was working on our other trees (we started a rotation of fertilization on all the trees we have) mentioned that our Crab Apples would look better if they sprayed them in the spring. He said if we didn't see an improvement in two years they'd refund our money. Well, duh!
So this is the fourth spring and I took some pictures.
Excuse that it's garbage day...
First a picture down the street. The trees you see are all the same variety of Crab Apple. Notice that ours is the only one still blooming. It was also covered with at least twice as many blossoms as others on the street. In addition ours is fully leaved all summer when the others are spotted and dropping. Last year the other trees were virtually bare.
One of them that lives across the street has started doing his and two others, one next to him and one next to me. His plan is to shame the rest of the neighbors into doing the same.
