I have a selfish motive, because I’m planning two identical beds on either side of my front walk, flanking the front porch steps.
I have a pretty good idea what the basic bones will be, but the plan is still forming.

The first person starts with a planting zone, and light conditions, and any pertinent other conditions. Once we get to 6 plants, a new person can start another garden.

I’ll start. I’m zone 8b, morning sun, clay soil.

1. Evergreen Variegated gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides 'Variegata')

I have both of those as well as Sedum 'Touchdown Teak'. it's not as large as the first two but has a deep dark mahogany color all through the plant as well as the blooms.
