Looking to purchase a dwarf white Crape Myrtle with an ideal mature height of 5-10’.

Also looking at the Lagerstroemia Early Bird White which seems slightly smaller, but has a longer blooming period.

How hardy are they? Can they survive in Zone 6?

Recommended Zones 7-10.

I am going with Acoma. It’s an amazing Crape Myrtle.

Not a dwarf, but one of 4 crape myrtle trees in my yard. I have pink, red, and two whites. I used to have another 3 along my driveway, but got tired of the damage to my cars when the flowers would come off in the rain and bake onto the car in the heat. I took them out for those thuja’s I posted before. I also wanted more 24/7/365 privacy.

Crape myrtles - love lots of sunlight! They also love 10-10-10 as they’re heavy nitrogen consumers. They are messy though. The bark will peel as they grow every year, the flowers will go everywhere in the wind, and if you ever want to take one out, you better get ALL of the roots, otherwise be prepared for “suckers” to keep coming up for years.

Aphids will attack the snot out of them!! You must use that feed and protect each year. They’re late bloomers too, will be the last in the yard to come out, but will carry into October in our area Reston.

They also like to drink. Lots of sun, lots of water, 10/10/10, feed & protect, and you should be good!

Mine are 20 years old. They’ve been trimmed back only once. They all look like this one, and the neighbors love them. They’re hell on my gutters, but worth the hassle.

Absolutely beautiful and great suggestions.

I have a number of the Dazzle series which are only several feet tall, but put out amazing color. I must have about 12 of the Cherry which are now in full peak.

Planting the Acoma which is white and picking up a white Diamond Dazzle this week.

I give them some super phosphate every year and they go crazy with blooms.
