We would like to add some solar powered lights to our landscaping and down the driveway.

Can anyone please provide a product name that they've been happy with. I hate to waste time and money on trial and error.

Thanks,

doc1

None.

Sorry, true. All garbage

Do yourself a favor, Buy a transformer, plug it in somewhere, and just run low voltage wire from transformer to the low voltage lights. Not only you'll have better lighting but they will last much much longer

Agree. Those solar landscape lights start losing brightness about 2 months in, and continue until they are dead. Fine for a party or something, but not for continuing use.

Reconsider any outdoor lighting you can't control with a switch--Light pollution (even small lights) throws off the circadian rhythm/mating cues for many species, and may have a lot to do with falling insect numbers. No need to have anything lit up when there's no one awake to see it or use it. We don't even have to bring up the energy thing..

I've never heard anyone who installed solar-powered garden lighting review them favorably. They never seemed to do the job well for very long or they simply failed being exposed to the elements.

I even thought if I spend more $$ on them and bring them inside for the winter to try and preserve them I'd be doing good.... but the solar panel faded after 3 yrs and the inside rusted up and some stopped working. Wasted time. Pointless. Garbage.

When I redo my backyard solar lights I will switch to low voltage lights with the transformer. Depending on the time of year the fence blocks a lot of the sunlight from charging them.

I guess I'm going against the trend, but I've been using the same set of inexpensive solar lights for 3 years and they're still working just fine. I think I spent $49.95 for the dozen.

This

It also upsets the circadian rhythm of your neighbors who enjoy sleeping with the shade cracked to wake up to the sunrise, only to find someones solar lights are keeping them from falling asleep.
