Hello you all! I just moved to Massachusetts and I am trying to create a nice garden out of the mess I have for back yard. I looked at several websites to find some info and I thought this site- New England Nurseries, New England Residential Landscaping, New England Commercial Landscaping -seemed like the best fit for my needs.

Just to give you a little info of what I am looking for, we have a house outside Concord, MA with approximately 1 acre we want to landscape it. The house previous owner did not care much about how the garden looked and that is how we were able to afford such a big house. But thats another story.

Well please anyone out there let me know what you guys think about this. If you have any tips they will be gladly welcome.

Thanks you so much,

Erin

I would suggest putting in a pond, it can provide the foundation for the garden. Water brings in birds and other wildlife. You can make it formal or naturalize it.
I have had one for about ten years now & love it.
A few years ago I enlarged it to about 6000 gallons.

here is a web site forum that may provide info if this interest you

I find a lot of useful advice on a wide variety of subjects here:

GardenWeb - The Internet's Garden Community

Don't let the name fool you, I found great info here when I was looking for a new washer and dryer.

If they offer it there ;take a agricuture extension course in garening offered by your state. They usually are setup for evenings and are cheap. They have very knowledgeable people that know your area of the country and state.
