Yucca....i have it and it is thriving. Every year it blooms nicely and the plants appear healthy.
My questions is "how do i care for it"?
There are dead leaves which seem to come out with no tugging, I remove the old brown leaves. I also clip the bloom stalks once the bloom is over. I give it a small amount of Osmocote in the spring, as i do with all of my "shrubs". What else should i be doing? Trim out any of the green leaves, which might be the previous year's growth?
Or just let it be and let it thrive with minimal care.

Leave the green leaves alone, they provide good things to the roots until the leaves turn brown and wither naturally with age. It sounds to me like it's happy and you're already doing exactly all the right things for it. I'd suggest you just carry on as usual with it and let it do its thing.
Just an fyi....the white blossoms of the Yucca are edible, they make an attractive addition to a green salad!
If you are lucky enough to be in AZ, they grow large and dried a yucca stalk makes and almost unbreakable walking stick, with a vertical "grain" pattern.

I do nothing to mine except trim off the brown bloom stalks (after blooming) which typically get to 10 feet tall. They apparently are quite happy with their location and strong sun exposure.
