Good news on this end -- my zucchini plant is growing and budding. Yay!!!! I didn't spray for possible bugs or anything. I just had some very rich kitchen compost ready that I put around my plants, including this little dear. It apparently liked it!

did you mean rotting on the plant. I have been told, if the squash is really tiny and just rotting away the fruit isn't getting to pollinated by the bees, but what do I know for sure? I do know we have had that problem the last couple of years and we have had very few bees. This year, our squash was gone in no time, the squash bores got it. We had the same trouble in Texas.

Oh do I hate SVB. Zuchetta and butternut help, but I loath them like no other.

We used to lose ours in Texas to sqush bores. The bugs we could usually spot.

A couple of my bush zucchini died, and now that I'm pretty sure borers are to blame. I actually saw some of the little orange eggs and some borers, but I didn't know what they were at the time. I'm still getting zukes, but that's because I planted in several different spots in the yard.
