I put my large feeder out today (6 feeding stations) filled with 2 cups of sugar water. I moved the smaller feeder to the other side of the deck so they could finish what was left in it. I just looked out the window because I could hear the little darlings -- there were 5 at the big feeder and 4 at the small one, happily drinking away! I wasn't going to leave them both up yet, but with this much activity I guess I will.

HL glad you found the thread on our hummers!

PJ8 they are like a watched pot that won't boil. They'll be back giving you loads of joy watching them soon.

Neditate wow do you have 'low rent signs' up or what?

My guys are bundled up in down coats & ear muffs we are dropping in temps with tons of rain. Supposed to get up in the 90s next week I'll just keep my feeders filled with fresh juice to tide them over until then.

I've only seen one, a beautiful male, come to the feeder. I hope he finds a girlfriend.
It's been rainy and cool but will get up to 80 by the weekend so he'll get a break temperature wise.

Hello!!!

I moved my feeders from a sunny area, to a shady area under my trellis with honeysuckle. The litte darlings seem to be so much happier. 18 generations, and going strong!!!

Default Ok - you have all done it now~~~

Guess I'm just going to have to get a hummer feeder! Do you suppose they come to MN? I don't think I've ever seen one here.

Just looked at the migration map - I guess they do come here!

You'll be in for a treat they are fun & awesome to watch! We finally have much warmer days and the 12 days of rain are over so my feeders are quite active right now.

YAY! Yes, they are so much fun to watch.
It's been busier than usual this time of year...
One night last week I counted 18 hummers at dusk. It was like a summertime feeding frenzy. I just made another 3 cups of food for the large feeder. They've been going through it in a day and a half. I started keeping track and in the past week they've gone through more than 5 quarts. It may be time to put out the 3rd feeder and make a trip to Costco for a bigger bag of sugar!
