We have many hummingbirds that stay here all year. They say only half migrate. We keep the feeders out all year, get buzzed when they want it changed. You recognize them after awhile, little quirks or stray feathers. Some are bold, some timid.

If flowers are in bloom the feeders are second choice.

Or a neighbor has put out feeders, plus there might be more bugs available.

Would love to have them year round I want to move anyways.

We live rural so no close neighbors but today I shared with my kids why I have another reason to enjoy my hummers.

Now mind you we have crop fields all around us on every side of our property. Our "yard" is 5 acres we keep mowed mailbox is across the road. Getting the mail today our mailbox had been bombarded with bird poop! I don't have that problem with my hummers. Now why can't the other birds do their droppings in the fields, road or in our yard?

No flowers up here yet. This weekend is the earliest anyone would dare plant any (I live @ 8300'). Our aspens just finally leafed out on Friday! There are definitely more bugs for them to eat now though.
We mostly have broadtails and they do continue to migrate north.
It would be great to live in a place where they hang out all year!
Jaxson, sorry about those rude birds!

Solved this mystery today! They aren't flying over then dropping bombs they are using our mailbox to sit on! I'll be trying to coming up with a solution to that happening by golly. Sparrows & black birds.
