Now that will depend on the variety of crops you are interested in. Whether cool weather for greens or hot for okra. Some need long growing seasons and other will mature in a short season. I know no perfect place. If I had to make a guess for the most broad spectrum area I might believe it would be on the California coasts with mild winters and maybe not to hot of a summer. Same may be said of the Carolinas. Now that's just a guesstimate. You really need a list of crop requirements to narrow the best areas down to find the best compromise. HTH.

I'd say Michigan.

The state of Michigan should actually be nick-named the Garden State instead of New Jersey.

I vote for the Central Valley of California... one of the most productive agricultural areas in the world, growing approximately one-third of the nation's food.

...while california certainly is a gardener's paridise..id definately have to place a vote or two for florida....year round mild weather means that you can grow just about anything...and with the recient introductions of warm weather tolerant apples, and peaches,...as well as being able to grow many of the more tropical fruit varities...florida definately produces much more than oranges and lemons....

The Willamette Valley in Oregon,
We get the rain, the cold (30) and warmth to grow all kinds of crops..It must be good because of all the commercial growers up here...
