My garden is just doing gangbusters, and have been picking tons of everything. Freeze warning forecast for Sunday night here, so that might just be the end of gardening.

6 new images! POSSIBLY A BIG MISTAKE MADE!

Decided to layer this time. No leaves around so cardboard will have to do for the browns.

Cardboard, Grass, Cardboard, then start mixing the compost soil on top with the grass. This way you get some worms on that level to work their way down and up.

And as I posted this I just realized the cardboard will cut off the circulation into the pile. I will experiment and report back. Its just 2 layers.

2 months later! Even the cardboard was broken down. Impressed. "Black Gold"!

There were small pieces left. Oddly enough from the bottom most part of pile.

I spread it out on my lawn and of course added some to my garden beds.

Oh nooooo. I hate that. I wonder if covering them would have helped.

Anyway you reminded me to make some tomato juice from what's left of mine.

It probably would have had I remembered to. Oh well. I picked all the green ones this morning and will let them ripen inside.

Thanks!
I grew this for my teenage son who wanted to see how it would do. He tried a piece of one. OMG was it hilarious. I had warned him the Ghost Pepper is one of the hottest but being 17 and thinking he "knows it all"......LOLOL
I made sure he had a glass of milk available. He tried a little piece. Said "Oh, not bad"......then a minute later he was gulping down the milk and swearing. He ended up drinking half a gallon of milk. I said "Well, not feeling so cocky now uh?" Baaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaa
Lesson learned! (and I had even showed him the week before a pepper eating contest on You Tube that included the Ghost Pepper. It was the second to last pepper. It started out with 12 people and was down to 2 when it came to the Ghost Pepper)

It's an "Itchy Job" but it does have rewards. Around this area a medium size basket sells for $20 and up. Even this late in the season we pick $75-100 a week.
