I purchased a house in March and am trying to get the yard and outdoor areas in better condition. I recently pulled up all the weeds and got rid of all the old wood chips that were outside. There was one bush/plant that I left and am now looking for a companion for. Problem is, I'm not sure what the name of this is and what I'd be looking for at the local nursery.
You could prolly show that pic to the folks at hostasdirect.com and they'd identify the species of hosta for you. If you want more of them, you can dig that plant up and break it in many pieces to make what's called a 'wave' of the planting... looks really nice when it's done. It's a nice variety whatever it's called. The leaves and color are great! Enjoy!
Actually, it greatly depends on your particular variety of hosta as to how much sun it grows and performs optimally in. Below is a good place to learn about hostas, but for finding which variety your particular hosta is, I'd still suggest looking through the pics at hostasdirect.com or even calling them to see about sending them of a pic for their help in identifying it.
Good luck with it! I love them here on Cape Cod. I have many different varieties in different areas of my yard. Some are huge, spreading to 5' - 7' wide!!!
