Here's an article with some pictures. Wondering, was it just a young tree or had it been murdered?

I'm having the same exact issue as the OP. Heavy rains have caused the branches to sag. Is the tree still okay?

I never pruned the tree or anything like that. I just let it grow. It's not one of the big ones that has multiple "trunks." It's really more like a shrub which has grown to be about 7' feet.

Wow, this thread is a blast from the past. I probably should have added, 3 years ago, that you can gently shake the flowers to release some of the caught water. Sun and a bit of wind will help the water to evaporate or be released. My myrtles are really too tall to do much intervention with, 12 to 20 or so feet.
