My friend brought me from Italy delicious large-green- beans' seeds. He planted them for me, and they came back long, robust, and beautiful. Now, he went back to Italy. I called him and asked him how I recoup the seed, and he said, "Don't worry, I bring you more next year."

OK, he is very charming, and helpful, but, I want to learn how to recoup my own seeds now that I have the opportunity, before the plant completes its cycle.

Does anyone know how? Thanking you in advance,

Leave a few pods on the plants until they turn brown and crispy. Crack open the pods and collect the seed (beans). Lay them in a single layer inside on a paper towel to continue drying. If you have a/c, they should dry pretty quick. Without a/c, you may want to put a small fan nearby to move the air a bit. That's it. Plant them next year. Just be sure you don't collect them until the pods are crispy.

I store my seeds in small paper bags. I label them and write the year I harvested them on the outside. Then I put them in a basket and stick them in a cupboard. Most garden websites suggest storing your seeds in cool, dry, and dark area.
