Has anyone had problems with this nasty plant before. It has really taken over some open areas here in NH and is very difficult to eradicate mechanically. Suggestions?

I had Japanese bamboo in my yard when I lived in Rhode Island. Here's my story of getting rid of it. Instead of cutting the stalks down, I sprayed the leaves and also the stalks with Weed-be-gone or Brush-be-Gone in a small spray bottle. Its best to do it on a hot day and you'll see the leaves wilt. As the small shoots come out of the ground they got sprayed also. You have to be persistent at it and will take a year to get rid of it all.It worked for me but not an easy job. Good luck
