Good Outdoor Gardening Book (grow, trees, north, south)

I need suggestions for a good outdoor reference book.

My mom tells me she would like this as a Christmas present.She requested a book that would nice enough to leave on a coffee table.

The past weekend I searched and searched but couldn't find a great reference book that is nice enough to leave out on a coffee table. It is all soft cover.

If no one has any ideas-I may just have to get her a regional soft cover book

I have much older versions of these two, but I really enjoy them.

Where does your mom live? If she's in the South, the latest Southern Living Garden Book is great.....no need reading about stuff that won't even make it one season in the South!

She lives just outside of NYC-I did see a regional soft cover book that would be excellent.
Maybe I'll get both-soft and hard cover!
