Cant really tell from the pic but it looks like it could be a potato bug. Those bugs are AWESOME!!! They are some of the most bada$$ looking things you've ever seen. They are not poisonous. They are just cool.

It is a potato bug (Jerusalem cricket) and I also think that it's a fascinating insect. I've never seen a pair - usually just one in the soil or dead in the swimming pool. My son would keep them in his pants pocket whenever he found one, which went over real big with my wife at laundry time.

Jerusalem cricket..thats about all this one is.. related to mole crickets..neat critters too...I used to find them out in the woods along the creek which ran between my neighborhood and the one below ours back home..especially around Live or Valley oaks during summer..
