Hi everyone. We recently moved into a home in Denver CO with 3 trees of the same breed in the backyard. The neighbor indicated that hornets/yellowjackets are very attracted to the red berries that the trees produce. This has been a pretty severe problem in years past. The homeowner suggested that we spray the tree with a deterrent of some type.
I went to Home Depot and all they had was 'Raid'.
My question is, can you recommend a product or professional service (say, Orkin, pest control, or similar) we can use to deter the hornets? I was thinking Home Depot would have a product with a long 'wand' to access the tree but they didn't.
My concern is, even if we spray the trees, they are quite tall: 30 feet or more. So, even if we spray the tree, the hornets may just move higher in the tree and nest. So, the alternative would be to remove the trees and replace them with something (hopefully) unattractive to hornets and other potentially aggressive insects.
Thank you in advance for your feedback.
