I have brown spots on the lower leaves of my tomato plants, what is it?
I am in zone 9, tomato plants are setting fruit right now.
I would prefer some kind of organic solution, if I can get one, thanks in advance!

Without seeing what it actually looks like, this is difficult to diagnose.
How dark are these patches, and do they spread to the stem, if so this may be a bigger problem than can be fixed.
We have some tomato plants with dried up looking leaves. I was worried about early blight but think its probably nitrogen deficiency from being in their starter planter packs too long. They're in good organic rich soil now but should I maybe give them an extra shot of fertilizer? Or maybe just replace them? They've been planted just over a week ago.
I was so freaked out about it, I took a leaf to the nursery yesterday about an hour after I posted this, they said it was early blight.
They told me to cut off the affected leaves, and sold me some organic fungicide.....so we will see what happens.......

All Tomato plant lose some leaves.
Did you plant them deep enough, you need to plant them deep enough for them to be able to grow new roots from the stem, as much as six inches deeper than the original soil level is good.
I would advise feeding for their recovery, they bounce back quickly.
Give them a chance.

That is what I suspected, all I can do is wish you well.
P.S. If the plants are really badly damaged, you can still pick any undamaged fruit, and either leave them to ripen on a windowsill, or cook them to make Chutney, or just have them fried.
They were starting to look a little shrivelled when I planted them. They were bought a little too early and the weather wasn't warm enough to plant them. They weren't dry or too wet, they just stood around on the sun porch for a while.
I gave them a shot of plant food so hopefully it helps them. The others I bought later are looking good, fortunately.

good luck, what a disappointment it would be to see the fruit setting and then lose the plants.
Well, the blight spots reappeared over the weekend, I dont know if spraying them again will help, as we have moved into the summer weather pattern, it rains every afternoon.
