Hydrangeas, especially the lacecaps, are a little disappointing this year as they are not quite as large. Lilies, all of them are doing very well and are very colorful. Although orange is not my favorite one, they seem to be the healthiest.

It was a very rewarding stroll.....but, I need to get out there and attend to the flower beds, REAL soon!

Not sure where you are, but, there is a fertilizer, Milorganite, by name that is a time release formula and Deer do not like it. It actively repels them. I live back in the woods in my 2.5 acre clearing, the other nine acres are in woods and creek. My garden had fallen prey to deer predation for years. I asked at the local Southern States, an agricultural co-op what I could use. they sold me two bags of this stuff, said to broadcast spread it around the edge of the garden -approximately 6000 sq. ft.- Have not had a deer in it since.

Thank you!
Even though we live in a small rural town, deer hang out in our very deep back yard. These beds are near the house and the deer aren't quite daring enough to come this close. Squirrels are my big problem! Hate them!

I hate deer, too, although they don't come into my yard. I also hate squirrels, possums, coons, armadillos, and skunks. The possums, coons, and skunks have been right at my back door before, peering in the window (French door). Unfortunately, I have a man who doesn't like to shoot stuff.

I love deer. They taste so gooood. I would like to eat squirrel too. I don't think I want to eat the others but I don't want them in my garden. I hate to have those pesky things around too. I used to get soooo mad when the squirrels would be greedy and take my pecans before they even were out of their husk. Tell your man he's supposed to be protecting the property.
