Proni has recently released online images of Wills. From the site blurb....
This application provides a fully searchable index to the will calendar entries for the three District Probate Registries of Armagh, Belfast and Londonderry, with the facility to view the entire will calendar entry for each successful search. The database covers the period 1858-1919 and 1922-1943. Part of 1921 has been added, with remaining entries for 1920-1921 to follow in the near future.
Digitised images of entries from the copy will books covering the period 1858-1900 are now available online, allowing users to view the full content of a will. 93,388 will images are now available to view.
A few days ago I found the will of my g-g-g-grandfather Henry KELLY of Park Hall, Antrim.
Lucky you. Don't you love how a will explains how everyone is related.
Sadly, not all wills, LOL! Henry Kelly's will only adrresses those still living in Northern Ireland. The children who immigrated to the United States and Canada were not mentioned. Fortunately my Canadian cousin has visited the living relatives in N.I. and the old homestead so she has been able to gather a wealth of info. as well as old photos. I've only spoken to some of these relatives over the phone. One day I'll get to Antrim and Londonderry with my cousin. Should have popped over when I lived in England, but understandably my British husband was wary, LOL!
Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check it out considering a number of my relatives hailed from what is now Northern Ireland!
I wish you much luck. It truly is a great new resource and at least one ancestor is bound to show up for you Not all images are available yet, but at least a summary is offered.
