Can anyone assist me in how I can obtain my fathers New York birth certificate?(Elmira) New York will only issue it to the person on the certificate and I do not have a relationship with my father. I am trying to obtain Irish citizenship through my grandfather. I cannot understand why it was easier to obtain a birth ceertificate from another country over 100 yrs old and I can't get near my fathers in my own country. Does anyone know of this situation or have experienced it?
