Have you looked at Ancestry.com or
www.familysearch.org or The National Archives (NARA)?
Ancestry is a subscription database, but many public libraries offer it for free on their computers.
FamilySearch is a free site.

If you can't find a birth record than you may be able to get the info you seek on the person from other records, i.e. census, marriage, etc.
