Lewis Kingman was my great great uncle. As in Kingman, Kansas & Kingman, Arizona. Surveyed for the railroads back in the day. Not that famous. Way back, we are related to Catherine Howard of Henry The VIII infamy.
And yes, I have many famous ancestors and so does just about everyone else. Several of mine, right off the top of my head, are Jesse James (not really an ancestor but a relative), Martha Washington - you know, George's wife, and Nicholas Martiau who was the city planner for Yorktown, VA. That's just on this side of the pond. There are more but I'd have to look them up and I haven't had enough coffee to do that yet. My family came from England and Germany to the US in the 1620s(a and the immigrants were the usual "second sons" (and daughters and wives) of wealthy British so there's the whole nobility/royalty thing too and yes, I'm descended from "royalty" but so are lots and lots and lots of people so I don't consider that anything particularly special.

Agreed. I mean lets say you go back 15 generations (I just picked a random number), that's mid 1400's to early 1500's for me, isn't there like 32,768 people just in that "level" alone that are directly related to you, that doesn't include siblings. I think most people that do any sort of genealogy from the hardcore to the newbies, immediately start to realize, we're all pretty much related, which I guess is a good thing!
